What is postpartum physiology?

After your baby arrives, you will notice some changes, both physical and emotional. It took your body months to prepare to give birth, and it takes time to recover. If you've had a cesarean section, it can take even longer. You will get greater satisfaction out of being a mom and it will be much easier if you care for yourself and your new baby.

Physically, you might experience, breast size fluctuation, abdominal separation, back pain, poor posture, spine misalignment, incision pain, and weight retention. Read more here.

Why is a garment better than a binder or belly wrap?

While abdominal binders and belly wraps are adjustable, easy to apply and offer accessibility to incision sites, they are also inflexible, provide only horizontal support, restricts airflow, have limited coverage, inconsistent support and may irritate the skin.

A Maternity Support Garment provides support from all angles, provides stability in movement, full coverage, flexible fit, soft, breathable fabric, non-irritating, body contouring, and undetectable under clothing.

What is the difference between a body shaper and postpartum support garment?

Provides targeted support to assist in organ and spine repositioning, and cesarean incision healing without applying undo pressure on vital organs or ligaments.

Can't I just wear my regular bra in a larger size during pregnancy and nursing?

Regular bras lack proper support for a pregnant or nursing woman. During pregnancy, your breast will not only change size and shape regularly, but at times, they can be sore. A good pregnancy or nursing bra can provide some relief for you. Design Veronique Maternity Bras adjust with your body for a personalized fit, self-adjusting cups sizes accommodate breast size fluctuations, provide wireless support for healthy nursing, have convenient nursing options, light support options for restful sleep, are breathable and hypoallergenic, latex and formaldehyde free.

What is the correct size for me?

Our product sizes are not based upon standard clothing sizes. To find your correct size, you must measure your body. For a detailed explanation on how and where to measure for the product you have selected, please see our comprehensive size charts for Maternity Support products. Our garment specialists are available Monday through Friday, 6:30 AM to 5:30 PM to walk you through body measuring and answer your sizing questions. Please call 800.442.5800.

What if my measurements do not fit within the size charts? Do you make custom garments?

Occasionally, women with unique body types have a difficult time finding support garments that provide a proper fit and accurate support. When faced with body measurements outside a standard size chart, a woman can opt for a custom made support garment. A genuine custom garment is made from a pattern crafted using a woman's unique measurements. Although many companies offer custom garment services and alterations, only a few can construct a custom garment based on a woman's unique measurements. Design Veronique is currently the only company that can construct a genuine custom garment within 2 business days. To consult with a garment specialist, please call 800.442.5800 or email customerservice@designveronique.com.

How do I put my garment on?

Garment-

If your product has detachable shoulder straps, unhook the front closure. Assume a seated position. Place your feet into the product leg openings. Depending on the product length, position the bottom hemline properly at your thighs. Remaining seated, gently position the garment into place around your hips.

Stand up slowly and pull the garment fully into place.

Bras-

The hook & eye closures found on the back of the bra (if applicable) should be fastened on the middle row. The front hook & eye closures (if applicable) should be separated and the shoulder straps loosened.

Slide your arms through the opening between the shoulder strap and bra, but do not tighten the shoulder straps. Close the front hook & eye adjustment, starting at the bottom closure and working up. Adjust the shoulder straps to the desired comfort.

If the bra is too tight or loose, take the bra off by separating the front hook & eye closures and adjust the back hook & eye closure to loosen or tighten the fit. Please repeat the above steps to put the bra back on.
